Avengers: Endgame On Course to Make $1.1 Billion

Image
Disney's Avengers: Endgame is predicted to hit $1.1 billion in revenue. It is even said that the movie will near break even on Sunday, which is unheard of for a major studio tent pole during its opening week. It is also predicted that the worldwide income will bring it to $2 billion closer to $2.5 billion. So far only four films have cleared the $2 billion mark, which are Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars: Force Awakens, and Avengers: Infinity War. The 3 hour and 2 minute long movie is said to have made $158 million on the first day as of its early release. By day 3, it will have made a total of $348 million. This profit expected from Avengers: Endgame is to be $600-$650 million, however Star Wars: Force Awakens walked away with $780.1 million in profit. Avengers: Endgame has also been ranked 1st in Fandango's biggest pre-sale films. This amount of money is crazy and all, but I don't think Disney could just end a series like this. It may seem like this is the real end of Ave

Advertising Techniques

Image
Advertising is everywhere we go, but what sets apart a good advertisement from a bad one are the ones that stick in consumers' minds. Companies are always trying to find ways where they can make advertisements appeal to consumers, thus getting them to buy their products that you don't really need. They are trying to find that one secret that will get more and more consumers. Companies will use certain words in their advertisements to make something seem good or bad. They also use appeals like getting something free when you buy their product, or having free shipping so you think that you area getting a deal when in reality you are in their control. Companies want to make you think you are in control of your own choices, but they really have you on strings like a puppet, controlling what you buy. Apple is a good example of using appeals because they really got our attention when they started making phones. Each year, they would come out with a phone with a bigger screen and

Advertising in Media

Image
Advertisements are everywhere in media and surrounds our life. Everywhere we go there is an advertisement. On the side of buses, before a movie starts, on public benches, etc,. Companies use advertisements to create either a positive or negative correlation with something, so that we will either buy something or do something. Companies use certain words in advertisements to paint a positive or negative picture in their audience's heads. They do this to grab your attention and have you buy things you never needed or have you do things you never thought about. Just walking down the street you see hundreds and hundreds of advertisements trying to grab your attention and have you spend your money. Places like New York are filled with advertisements, and you cannot go somewhere that does not have advertisements. Like waiting in the subway, there are advertisements, or walking in the city, there are giant screens filled with advertisements. Companies spend millions of dollars to tr

Politics in English Language

Image
Because of politicians, words in the English language have lost their meaning and the power behind them. Writers who think poorly will show that in their work because they will also write poorly. Things like unoriginal or mixed metaphors, pretentious diction, and abstract or meaningless language. When a writer becomes lazy, they allow their language to think for them. This way, politicians end up following a party line. Politicians use the language to disguise ugly and concrete realities with complex and abstract words. George Orwell in his essay, "Politics and the English language," talks about how English language is a reflections of the state of society and politics and the idea that language is a natural growth rather than an instrument that we shape for our own purposes derives from that. By politicians using set phrases, they mimic ideology without thinking. Independent thinking is needed in order to make a strong and powerful speech or writing. Because politicians

My Relationship With Media

Image
Nowadays, it seems that every teen has a strong relationship with media. Media is everywhere on our phones, computers and our everyday life. Everywhere we can see that people are connected with media almost too much. We rely too much on media. Everywhere we can see teens with their necks always bent down looking at their phone texting and looking at memes. Personally, I think that I have a very strong relationship with media. I wish that I could go back to the time when I was little and innocent, not knowing a thing about media. Those times were good because we did not have to worry about replying to a text or sending a snap to keep the streak.  I do not consider myself to be overly addicted to media, but I do see people all around school who are glued to their phones. I sometimes even find it calming to just turn my phone off and completely shut off the media world. I don't know what it is about it, but I find myself to be less stressful when I don't have to worr
