Advertising Techniques

Image result for advertising in new yorkAdvertising is everywhere we go, but what sets apart a good advertisement from a bad one are the ones that stick in consumers' minds. Companies are always trying to find ways where they can make advertisements appeal to consumers, thus getting them to buy their products that you don't really need. They are trying to find that one secret that will get more and more consumers.

Companies will use certain words in their advertisements to make something seem good or bad. They also use appeals like getting something free when you buy their product, or having free shipping so you think that you area getting a deal when in reality you are in their control. Companies want to make you think you are in control of your own choices, but they really have you on strings like a puppet, controlling what you buy.

Apple is a good example of using appeals because they really got our attention when they started making phones. Each year, they would come out with a phone with a bigger screen and a faster processor, so it appeals to our need to dominate. By buying a phone with a bigger screen and having it first, we can laugh our friends saying, "Ha, my screen is bigger" when in fact, that is what Apple wants you to think. By people having this mindset, other people will want to be on top of the game, thus making people upgrade phones when there is no reason to.

I think we all know we don't need stuff that we buy, but companies make it appeal to us so we feel the need we have to just buy stuff. We are all falling victims to these companies' traps.
