Easter Sunday Bombing in Sri Lanka

(Associated Press)This Easter Sunday, a bombing occurred at multiple churches and hotels, killing more than 200 people killed and at least 450 more injured. Several among those people killed were U.S. citizens. explosions had collapsed ceilings and blown out windows, killing worshipers and hotel guests.

In Fox News's article, they tell us that the explosions had begun at around 8:45 a.m. local time. An official said that at least two of the church explosions were carried out by suicide bombers. The series of explosions had struck three churches and three luxury hotels. Fox News says that three Indians, one Portuguese national, two Turkish nationals, and three British nationals have either been killed or injured during these explosions.

In The Huffington Post's article, they tell us that thirteen arrests have been made, all of whom were Sri Lankans. There were also Chinese and Dutch among the people who were killed. Among those, U.S. nationals were also killed. Three police officers were also killed during a security forces raid on a house in the capital of Sri Lanka several hours after the attacks. The Huffington Post tells us that most of the attacks were from suicide bombings.

It is very sad to hear about these attacks on such a day that you should be happy for your religion, such as Easter. Many people have offered heartfelt condolences to those in Sri Lanka, such as Donald Trump and former U.S. president Barack Obama. After the attacks, Obama tweeted, "The attacks on tourists and Easter worshipers in Sri Lanka are an attack on humanity. On a day devoted to love, redemption, and renewal, we pray for the victims and stand for the people of Sri Lanka.
